About John Nunez

John Nunez has served our communities with decades of educational and civic leadership for our schools, cities, and county.

John was voted Board President of Garvey School District, after serving as Co-President of the Garvey Council PTA, where he twice received their Honorary award. He also served on our Alhambra USD Board.John was elected Mayor Pro Tem of Rosemead by his fellow Council Members. He has long represented our area as a voting member of the LA County Redistricting Committee.

John is the father of two adult children, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, In his personal time, John coached Little League baseball and Rosemead Rebels Pop Warner football

SCHOOL SAFETY

As ARMY Paratrooper and Security Professional, John believes student safety is the paramount issue facing public schools today.

He supports increased campus security personnel, random locker searches, and teacher training to spot security threats.

STEAM

Science, Technology. Engineering. Arts. Math. This program fosters excellence in important disciplines and encourages our students to excel. John is an enthusiastic advocate for this educational aim.

DUAL LANGUAGES

Given the rich diversity of our student population, John promotes this ESL immersion program to mainstream our Chinese and Spanish-speaking students.

COMMUNITY SCHOOLS

John supports parent and teacher engagement in setting priorities for these special state-funded grant programs to individual schools.
